CLAWAR Modularity for Robotic Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents the activities of the CLAWAR TN project to identify the status for the area of applied robotics and how the traditional robotics industry can evolve to meet the wider needs of industry, society and citizens of the future. The modular philosophy that has been developed by the CLAWAR partnership using the concept of the interaction space is presented. This identifies the different types of inter-connections needed to design the components for achieving the connectivities and functionalities required for the robotic systems for specific applications. The results on the technical tasks carried out over the four years of the project are summarized and the current and future works of CLAWAR are also described. KEY WORDS—robot component, standards, plug-n-play, modularity, open components

Design of a Dextrous Hand for advanced CLAWAR applications
A wide variety of CLAWAR machines have been produced over the years, and a limited number of commercial successes have been recorded. Successive UNECE/IFR reports ([1], [2]) have suggested that there is an important future market for robotic systems; analysis of the domains in which this market is expected (personal, medical, assistive, entertainment) suggests that the field as a whole may be s...
متن کاملStability Control of an Hybrid Wheel-Legged Robot
For exploration missions with autonomous robotic systems, one of the most important goal of any control system is to ensure the vehicle integrity. In this paper, the control scheme of an hybrid wheel-legged robot is presented. This scheme uses artificial potential field for the on-line stability control of the vehicle. First, the principle of this method is outlined and, then, simulation result...
متن کاملA Multi-processing Software Infrastructure for Robotic Systems
Robotic systems and their software design are based on the same principles found in other computer applications. However, while many computer systems to date are deeply rooted in concepts such as multi-processing, multi-threads, modularity, etc., robotic systems are still limited by mono-processing, centralized designs. This paper addresses these limitations by proposing a new philosophy for ro...
متن کاملMaximum Maintainability of Complex Systems via Modulation Based on DSM and Module Layout.Case Study:Laser Range Finder
The present paper aims to investigate the effects of modularity and the layout of subsystems and parts of a complex system on its maintainability. For this purpose, four objective functions have been considered simultaneously: I) maximizing the level of accordance between system design and optimum modularity design,II) maximizing the level of accessibility and the maintenance space required,III...
متن کاملAnnex F – SURVEY OF ROBOTIC CONTROL AND TELEOPERATION ARCHITECTURES Technical Report
In this document, we summarise and analyse existing robotic control and teleoperation architectures included their software implementation. After the introduction where a layered structure is proposed and discussed, we present the requirements expressed by the Clawar community. The architecture overview has been divided in two sections: the first one contains a review of existing control archit...
